Mitch Kupchak, James Worthy, Jeanie and Jim Buss will be involved in the pitch to Carmelo, but after that meeting with the Lakers, the superstar will meet with the Knicks in Los Angeles, according to ESPN The Magazine’s Chris Broussard:

Before heading to Los Angeles on Thursday, Anthony met with the Chicago Bulls, Houston Rockets, and Dallas Mavericks. The Knicks will sit down with Carmelo after the meeting with the Lakers. Phil Jackson and the Knicks brass hope to have a verbal commitment from Anthony by Thursday night.

Although some of Anthony’s suitors will provide the opportunity to contend right out of the gate like the Bulls and Rockets, the superstar returning to New York seems to be more and more likely. The Knicks can offer more money and years on a new deal than any other team and now have infrastructure in place to change the culture in New York.

With Jackson and Derek Fisher calling the shots in New York, Anthony may finally have the kind of stability in the front office and on the sidelines to create a winning atmosphere.
