Lakers Nation Debate: This Year’s Roster Vs. Last Year’s Roster

Topic: After all of the off-season moves the Lakers have made, we wonder if this roster is better than last year’s.

Context: Last year was one of the worst seasons in the history of the Lakers franchise. With a host of new faces, many fans could hardly recognize anyone on the roster.

Despite that, some fan favorites developed even through the record number of losses.

Coming into the off-season, the Lakers hoped to bring in a superstar. But both LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony declined to come to Los Angeles, forcing the Lakers the move to Plan B.

This involved the Lakers bringing back certain players from last year’s team. Jordan Hill, Nick Young, and Ryan Kelly all received two-year deals, while Wesley Johnson and Xavier Henry got one-year contracts.

The Lakers also traded for Jeremy Lin, signed young big man Ed Davis, and claimed the amnestied Carlos Boozer.

With two good-looking draft prospects in Julius Randle and Jordan Clarkson added to a hopefully hopefully healthy Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash, plus Robert Sacre and the roster is basically set.

While a coach has yet to be named, the roster is more or less set, which begs the question of whether this roster is better than last year’s.

Verdict: We went to twitter to ask our loyal followers if they believe this year’s roster is better than last year’s? These are some of the responses:

@TheeCoreyH @LakersNation Not really. This year's team is just healthier, I guess. Looking forward to Randle tho.

@TheeCoreyH @LakersNation the Lakers are much better than last year. Kobe is back to lead us. Boozer, davis, lin will be great additions

@TheeCoreyH @LakersNation last year's roster HEALTHY was better. This year's, healthy, will have a better record than last year.

@theecoreyh no. People are expecting Randle to be a 20 & 10 guy right away-not possible- he might not even start-maybe at sf.

@TheeCoreyH @LakersNation Healthy Kobe, 2 stud rookies, a former allstar, an Asian sensation, & Swaggy & Hill are beasts. #better #Lakers
