With that being said, Grantland’s Bill Simmons mentioned the possibility of Rivers being available as the potential reason why the Los Angeles Lakers have yet to hire a coach. While it does make sense that the Lakers would wait this out since Rivers is one of the best coaches in the NBA, the team has already interviewed Byron Scott numerous times and a decision is reportedly near.

Without a head coach in place, the Lakers introduced one of their newest additions, Ed Davis. The 25-year-old shared that he is comfortable playing power forward or center and discussed the “defensive mentality” the team needs to have next season.
