Lakers To Workout Julyan Stone For Second Time This Week

Still looking to possibly add to the fringes of their roster before training camp begins, the Lakers are working out guard Julyan Stone according to Real GM:

Free agent Julyan Stone will work out for the Lakers in Los Angeles this week, his second visit with the organization before meeting three other teams, league sources told RealGM.

A 6’6 combo guard who went undrafted out of Texas-El Paso in 2011, Stone has spent the last three seasons trying to find a spot in the league. He spent two seasons in Denver and last season with the Toronto Raptors, making minimal contributions to both teams.

Stone joins a long list of players that the Lakers have worked out over the last couple weeks. Michael Beasley is the most known of those players, but a big workout included players like Bobby Brown, Dexter Pittman, and Toney Douglas.

The Lakers could be looking at Stone as insurance at the point guard position. No one knows what to expect from Steve Nash and Jordan Clarkson is a rookie, leaving Jeremy Lin as the most reliable player at the position for the Lakers.

The team still has two open roster spots and a little room under the luxury tax line to sign Stone to a minimum deal if they chose to do so.
