Lakers News: Ryan Kelly Ruled Out Against Jazz With Hamstring Injury

Ryan Kelly Interview

The injury problems for the Los Angeles Lakers continue to get worse and worse. Just when head coach Byron Scott expected to get Ryan Kelly back in the lineup on Sunday against the Utah Jazz, the second-year forward has been ruled out due to a hamstring injury, according to Mark Medina of the L.A. Daily News:

Kelly hasn’t played a minute under Coach Scott during the preseason or participated in practice as a result of the hamstring injury. All signs pointed to Kelly returning on Sunday night giving the Lakers a bit more depth at forward and a shooter that could spread the floor.

Unfortunately, Kelly will continue to be sidelined as the injury woes continue for the Lakers in the preseason.

Although Kelly missing tonight’s game against the Jazz is disappointing and unexpected, the Lakers may see the return of Jeremy Lin, via Medina:

Lin suffered an ankle sprain last weekend that forced him to miss a few games. Although the ankle injury isn’t considered serious, the team has taken a cautious approach by sitting the veteran point guard. Ronnie Price has been shouldering the load in the backcourt with Lin, Jordan Clarkson and Steve Nash all missing time due to injuries.
