Injuries have been a major part of the Los Angeles Lakers’ struggles so far this season, but things look like they may be turning around soon. The injuries robbed the Lakers of some of their best playmakers, including fan favorite Nick Young.

Young led the Lakers in scoring last season, but hasn’t touched the floor this season after tearing a ligament in his thumb during training camp. However, there is a chance Young could take the practice floor next week according to Lakers Nation reporter Serena Winters:

Young’s return is highly anticipated amongst the Lakers and their fans. His ability to get his own shot regardless of the defense is a skill that very few Lakers possess. Kobe Bryant is obviously capable of getting his shot, but no other player has been a consistent second option so far this year.

It is important to note that Young’s possible practice next week does not change his expected return date as he is still unlikely to return before the end of the month.

The Lakers bench will get a huge boost once Young does return as his scoring prowess will surely open things up for Ed Davis down low, as well as Wayne Ellington who is knocking down 57 percent of his shots so far this year.
