Kobe Continues To Climb All-Time Scoring List, Jumps Hakeem For 8th Spot

Kobe Bryant needed just 13 points to eclipse Houston Rockets’ legend Hakeem Olajuwon for eighth place on the all-time scoring list. He accomplished the feat with just over three minutes remaining in the first period on a fastbreak dunk during the Lakers home game against the Sacramento Kings.

The next player on the list for Kobe to leapfrog is hall-of-fame center Elvin Hayes, who amassed 27,313 points over his 16-year career in which he spent time with the San Diego Rockets/Houston Rockets and the Baltimore/Capital/Washington Bullets.

Hayes enjoyed his best offensive season as a pro during his rookie year with the San Diego Rockets, when he posted a scoring average of 28.4 points per game for a total of 2,327 points.
