Heading into this off-season, Marc Gasol will be one of the most sought after players in free agency. After winning 55 games in the competitive Western Conference, the Memphis Grizzlies eventually lost to the Golden State Warriors in the second round of the playoffs.

Numerous teams like the Los Angeles Lakers and San Antonio Spurs will pursue Gasol on July 1 and although a final decision has not been made, he is expected to re-sign with the Grizzlies according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports:

The Grizzlies will have a full training camp to incorporate Green into their system, with the franchise’s full attention turning to the re-signing of first-team All-NBA center Marc Gasol in July free agency. Gasol is expected to stay with the Grizzlies, but no final decision has been made, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

After his brother was traded to the Grizzlies in 2001, Gasol moved to Memphis and has spent his entire adult life there. While the Grizzlies have come up short in the playoffs, they are a lot closer to contention with Zach Randolph and Mike Conley.

For the Lakers, they will have an opportunity to select a big man in Karl-Anthony Towns or Jahlil Okafor on June 25. Should they opt for a guard like D’Angelo Russell or Emmanuel Mudiay, LaMarcus Aldridge and Kevin Love are considered to be the most likely big names to change teams according to NBA executives.
