SportsNation Believes Kobe and Carmelo Could Coexist

On the popular ESPN show SportsNation they recently had a debate on whether or not Carmelo Anthony and Kobe Bryant could play together on the Lakers. After last night’s game in Boston however, this may be a moot point. Regardless, let’s take a look at the percentages that came up when discussing Kobe and Carmelo in Los Angeles.

When polled, 57 percent of SportsNation believes that Kobe Bryant and Carmelo Anthony could coexist in Los Angeles. However, only 35 percent of voters are rooting for Anthony to end up with the Lakers.

Special guest Scottie Pippen agreed with the viewers, and stated that he believes both Anthony and Bryant are at a point in their careers when they recognize what it takes to win a championship in today’s league. Pippen stated that he feels Bryant knows he needs an additional scorer on the roster, and that Anthony could fill that role.

SportsNation co-host Colin Cowherd disagreed with Pippen. In fact, he didn’t have the nicest things to say about Carmelo Anthony. According to Cowherd, who also has his own morning radio show on ESPN, Anthony is the type of player who looks good from a distance, but once he’s on your team you begin to notice gaping holes in his play – most notably on defense.

All three are interesting points, but in the end the question will always remain – could Anthony and Bryant work together on the Lakers? While we may never get the chance to find out, it appears that the majority of fans across the nation believe that the two could come together to bring the Lakers a championship.
