NBA Rumors: Los Angeles Likely To Host 2018 NBA All-Star Game
Nba Rumors: Los Angeles Likely To Host 2018 Nba All-star Game

The NBA is coming off of one of the best All-Star Weekends in league history as the Slam Dunk Contest was one of the greatest of all-time, and numerous records were broken in the All-Star Game itself. If there was one complaint to be had, however, it was the frigid temperatures in Toronto.

Though next year’s game is already booked for Charlotte, some warmer temperatures could be on the way for All-Star Weekend after that.

According to Sam Amick of USA Today, the city of Los Angeles is the likely destination for All-Star Weekend in 2018:

According to two people with knowledge of the situation, the NBA and Los Angeles officials have made significant progress toward finalizing a partnership for the event. The deal is not done, but the prospect of All-Star weekend returning to Los Angeles for the first time since 2011 is very strong.

The last time the All-Star festivities were held in Los Angeles was 2011. Kobe Bryant won his fourth All-Star Game MVP after tallying 37 points and 14 rebounds. Likewise, Clippers star Blake Griffin arrived on the scene in a big way by winning the Slam Dunk Contest.

Hopefully by the time the game comes to Los Angeles, the Lakers will have a bonafide star to represent the team. The team has some potential All-Stars in D’Angelo Russell, Jordan Clarkson, and Julius Randle, but time will tell if any of them develop enough to reach All-Star level by 2018.
