Everybody at Lakers Nation would like to wish a very happy birthday to Laker legend Jerry West, who turned 73 today. West was known for his clutch shots and was immortalized as the NBA logo.

West’s contributions to the Lakers went beyond the court into the front office after his playing days were over, as he became one of the most successful general managers in franchise history. His well-known trade back in 1996 brought in Kobe Bryant while signing Shaquille O’Neal in the same summer, setting up the future of the Lakers franchise.

After his time with Los Angeles West joined the Memphis Grizzlies, where he was able to help lead the team to the playoffs for the first time in franchise history.

Recently West took a front office position with the Golden State Warriors, as he looks to have an impact on another NBA team.
