Kobe Bryant to Start Nonprofit Foundation to Reduce Homelessness in Los Angeles

Lakers star Kobe Bryant has teamed up with his wife Vanessa to create the Kobe and Vanessa Bryant Family Foundation, a nonprofit organization that will attempt to reduce homelessness in Los Angeles and the surrounding areas.

Bryant will hold a news conference today at the nonprofit resource center known as My Friend’s Place, which offers free emergency services to over 1,500 homeless individuals a year.

During the press conference Bryant will explain the goals the foundation will attempt to achieve, which go beyond helping the homeless. The Kobe and Vanessa Bryant Family Foundation will attempt to not only get people off the street but keep them off, as it will create permanent housing while providing educational resources and career initiatives. The foundation will look to help some of the people in the L.A. area that need help the most.

Besides his latest foundation Bryant has participated in many other charities and philanthropic organizations in the past. Bryant has worked with Make a Wish Foundation, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, and the Boys & Girls Club of America. The Kobe and Vanessa Bryant Family Foundation will be another way for Bryant to try and help the citizens of the city that have supported him throughout his career.
