The month of August is going to see multiple releases from the Nike Kobe signature line, beginning with a Los Angeles Dodgers-inspired collection and the annual Halo launch that coincides with Kobe Bryant’s birthday.

For 2026, Nike is bringing back the Kobe 10 in a Protro model. The original Nike Kobe 10 released in 2015 and at the time was touted for being a breakthrough in lightweight performance that combined advanced cushioning, traction and support in a streamlined silhouette.

The Protro model — short for “performance retro” — builds on that foundation with meaningful updates across the upper, midsole and outsole.

Nike describes the Kobe 10 Protro as having a redesigned engineered mesh upper that is more breathable and flexible than the original model. The midsole consists of Cushlon 3.0 foam combined with a full-length Zoom Strobel system for enhanced responsiveness, and the outsole also has been reengineered for better grip.

Another change is a widened forefoot area and strategically placed reinforcements that help improve comfort without compromising support.

Meanwhile, the carbon fiber forefoot wing from the original Kobe 10 is unchanged and continues to provide lateral stability during dynamic movement. The new silhouette also retains the hidden “Endure and Conquer” messaging, preserving a signature detail that reflects Bryant’s famed Mamba Mentality.

When will the Kobe 10 Protro release?

Additional engineered mesh Kobe 10 Protro colorways will release throughout the year, and Flyknit editions featuring ZoomX foam will follow in 2027.

Kobe Protro history

Nike introduced the Kobe Protro line in February 2018 with a focus on re-releasing some of his most iconic signature shoes that are updated with modern day technology.

“Protro is about evolution and improving on things that were. I wanted to build a business that wasn’t just based on things I have done in the past,” Bryant said in a statement at the time. “It is important that the brand stands for performance and that everything we do is innovative, even if we are releasing shoes from the past they still must be built on performance.”

The Nike Kobe 1 was the first Protro model released, and that since has been followed by updated versions of the Kobe 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 and 9, and now 10 is becoming the latest addition.

About Kobe Halo releases

Within the Kobe Protro releases has come the “Halo” series that Vanessa Bryant, wife of the late Los Angeles Lakers legend, developed to pay tribute to her husband on his Aug. 23 birthday each year. The Halo line debuted in 2023 with the Nike Kobe 8 Protro.

It has since been followed by all-white Protro models of the Kobe 9 Elite Low and Kobe 9 Elite in 2024, Kobe 3 in 2025, and now the Kobe 10.
