Phoenix Suns to cut Vince Carter – Potenital Future with Lakers?

ESPN’s Marc Stein reported earlier today that the Phoenix Suns intend on cutting veteran guard Vince Carter once the lockout is officially over. This means that later this week Carter will be a free agent, and able to sign with any team that is willing to pay him.

As the news circulated around the league that Carter was soon to be a former member of the Phoenix Suns, speculation began as to where Carter would end up.

The last few seasons have seen Carter bounce around, playing for the Suns after a stint in Orlando playing for the Magic.

Chris Palmer of ESPN posted on his Twitter account that Carter might consider looking for a home in southern California.

Would Vince Carter be a good fit with the Lakers? Since Shannon Brown isn’t expected to return next season the team would be looking for a potential back-up shooting guard. Carter could provide a scoring boost off the bench that the team wasn’t able to reach with Brown.

The question is certainly interesting, but in the end it might not be such a positive fit. Still, if Carter is able to to put aside his ego and accept a reduced role he could be a decent bench player wherever he ends up.
