Lakers Rumors: Grizzlies Shopping Former USC Guard O.J. Mayo

The Memphis Grizzlies are reportedly once again looking to trade guard O.J. Mayo. A recent rumor has surfaced that has Memphis discussing a possible Mayo deal with the New Jersey Nets.

Memphis is looking to drop salary in order to make a run at current Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard in the off-season.

So, if Memphis is looking simply to dump salary is it possible that the Lakers could make a run at Mayo? The team certainly needs scoring help off the bench, and has the trade exception the team acquired in the Lamar Odom trade.

The Lakers could possibly package the exception with some draft picks to make a run at Mayo. But if the team has bigger trade aspirations this season, for instance – Dwight Howard, don’t expect them to make any sort of move to bring in a reserve guard.
