The speculation surrounding the upcoming 2012 NBA Draft continues to swirl around the league with about 24 hours left before the first pick is made by the New Orleans Hornets. The only certainty heading into tomorrow’s draft is that Anthony Davis of the Kentucky Wildcats will be selected by the Hornets, but outside of Davis setting up shop in the Big Easy, there’s no telling what will happen.
As for the Los Angeles Lakers, the trade rumors involving Pau Gasol have kicked into high gear once again with the two-time NBA champion potentially closer than ever to being dealt elsewhere. With the Lakers having no picks in the first round and desperate for some younger talented, the talk of Los Angeles making a move or two to acquire some draft picks has started to gain some steam.
Talks of Gasol and of Metta World Peace being traded on draft day to secure spots in the first round may very well be a high probability. The Lakers have been rumored to be targeting draft prospects Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Quincy Miller and Perry Jones III.
