NBA News: Houston Rockets Looking to Move Luis Scola; Lakers Interested?

After the Houston Rockets failed to land Dwight Howard on draft day, they’re once again looking for a serviceable big man to bring in. The team has tried multiple times to land a replacement big since Yao Ming was forced to retire. Houston had a trade completed last December for Lakers forward Pau Gasol before it was vetoed by David Stern.

Rumor has it Houston is still interested in Gasol, and is looking to deal Luis Scola and possibly other pieces in exchange for him. After drafting Royce White and Terrence Jones in the draft earlier this week, it seems that Houston is ready to part ways with Scola.

According to Kurt Helin of NBA Pro Basketball Talk, the team is looking to get out of basketball purgatory.

It’s the right thing to do. The Rockets have been locked in NBA’s middle ground. Not bad, fighting for a low payoff seed, getting a nice but not great draft pick, having some nice players but no All-Stars. Rinse. Lather. Repeat.

If the team is looking to add a player like Gasol, Los Angeles will require more than just Scola. It may also involve other pieces, with one player in particular that may perk the Lakers’ interests. That would be point guard Kyle Lowry, who has been linked to Los Angeles in trade rumors before.
