NBA News: Tracy McGrady Denies Kobe’s 1-on-1 Beatdown Story

Kobe Bryant Okay. This is turning into a Manti Te’o situation. I don’t know what to believe anymore, but the story is still tremendous. So, if you need a quick refresher, let’s start from the beginning.

In an interview with ESPN’s Chris Palmer, Kobe said that he played T-Mac in a game of 1-on-1 in Germany and he smoked him.

When I was about 20, we were in Germany doing some promotional stuff for that other sneaker company and we played basketball every day. We were in the gym all the time. We played three games of one-on-one to 11. I won all three games. One game I won 11-2. After the third game he said he had back spasms and couldn’t play anymore.

Right. According to Kobe, the two played in Germany and Tracy McGrady got whooped so badly he had to fake back spasms to avoid the undying wrath of the Mamba. However, McGrady doesn’t seem to recall this particular situation ever happening.

@mheatfan631 LOL Hell no! That’s far from the truth. No one in the NBA is playing 1 on 1. Me and KB never went to Germany together either..

Well, that makes things much more confusing. But oh, so juicy.

So did Kobe and McGrady ever actually play 1-on-1 in Germany? One of these guys is lying, and honestly I have to lean towards McGrady here. Because how diabolical would it be if Kobe was just making this stuff up purely to irritate T-Mac and get under his skin? That’s so Kobe, right? I bet he’s going to tweet about it later. While in an ice bath. Kobe’s my favorite internet troll.

Here’s what I’m proposing – have these two play 1-on-1 now. Sure it doesn’t mean anything and T-Mac is about as close to his prime as a steak under the heat lamps at Shari’s. Do they have Shari’s in Los Angeles? Is that just a northwest thing? I’m off on a tangent here, I’ll try and get back on track.

Anyways, I guess it’s appropriate that McGrady had one more tweet besides denying all Kobe’s comments.

I’m totally confused by the Manti Te’o story…..

Been there, bro.
