With new general manager Flip Saunders, the Minnesota Timberwolves are already identifying free agents to target.

With their point guard position set, the Wolves are turning their attention to the shooting guard position and free agent O.J. Mayo is a likely candidate. Mayo signed a two-year contract with the Mavericks last season, but had an early opt-out clause.

While the Lakers don’t have much cap space, Mayo’s name has been linked to the team as he would provide instant offense off the bench when Kobe returns from his injury.

Mayo will command between five and seven million dollars per season as he averaged 15.3 points and 4.4 assists.

Even though he’d be a great fit with the Lakers, Mayo will go where the money is and start for a mediocre team.
