The Los Angeles Lakers faced a myriad of injuries and personnel changes last season which prevented them from reaching full potential. Los Angeles acquired some big names last offseason, and now that Dwight Howard has left for Houston, this squad has a lot of prove.

Steve Nash is staying put with the Lakers, and he is heading into the 2013-14 season with his chin up. Nash was just one of many Lakers players who dealt with injuries last season, and he understands that the team was never truly at full strength. The point guard spoke to 710 ESPN LA recently and talked about what he expects from the Lakers next season.

The Los Angeles Times writes that Nash still has faith in coach Mike D’Antoni, and he expects the entire team to be motivated to succeed once the offseason wraps up.

“I think he’s a very bright coach.  He’s not without flaws but none of us are,” said Nash on the “Mason & Ireland Show” on ESPN L.A. (710) on Tuesday.  “We should all be judged by the fans.  It’s their team.  I think we’ve got a lot to prove — Mike, myself and all the guys on the team this year because last year was, to me, a disaster in a lot of ways.”

Kobe Bryant suffered a season ending injury in April, and although some reports say he will return to action in November or December, there is a good chance the Black Mamba will be suited up for opening night.

Although people are already calling off the Lakers and their chances to contend in the Western Conference, we have yet to see just how well Bryant, Nash and Pau Gasol work together in Mike D’Antoni’s system.
