With Malcolm Thomas receiving a call-up from the San Antonio Spurs, the Los Angeles D-Fenders were in need of a new offensive weapon. It was announced today that the D-Fenders have acquired Manny Harris from the Canton Charge in exchange for a 2014 second round pick. Harris has not played this season, but averaged 21.4 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 3.3 assists for the Charge last year. In 2010, Harris went undrafted out of Michigan but played for the Cleveland Cavaliers in two different stints.

Here is the press release via the Los Angeles D-Fenders:

EL SEGUNDO  –  The Los Angeles D-Fenders have acquired guard Manny Harris from the Canton Charge in exchange for a 2014 second round draft pick, it was announced today by D-Fenders General Manager Nick Mazzella.

Harris (6’5” / 185) averaged 21.4 points, 7.9 rebounds and 3.3 assists in 17 D-League games for the Charge during the 2011-12 season.  A two-year NBA veteran, Harris has also appeared in 80 career games with the Cleveland Cavaliers posting averages of 6.2 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.5 assists.  The Detroit native most recently played for Azovmash Mariupol, of the Ukranian Superleague, during the 2012-13 season before taking part in training camp with the Orlando Magic this season.

A three-year starter at the University of Michigan, Harris earned All-Big Ten First Team honors as a sophomore in 2009 and All-Big Ten Third Team honors as a junior in 2010.  In 98 career games, Harris averaged 17.0 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.5 steals and led the Wolverines to the second round of the NCAA Tournament in 2009.
