Byron Scott Says Lakers Won’t Sign Anyone Until After Road Trip

Once again this season, the Los Angeles Lakers have been decimated by injuries. With three players already ruled out for the rest of the season, the Lakers are forced to make a move to get some more talent on the roster, likely via free agency.

The team was recently linked to former Laker Earl Clark, though nothing has been made official. According to Shahan Ahmed of the NBC Los Angeles, Byron Scott says the team won’t be bringing anyone new in this week:

Bringing in a new player to the team is always difficult because they have to learn all of the new systems in limited time. It makes sense that the team would prefer to wait until they are back home and able to practice before they bring someone new in.

All signs point to that player being Earl Clark and he would be a very good signing, capable of playing both forward positions and adding solid defense to a team that lacks good defenders.

Regardless of who the new player is, he won’t be seeing the court anytime soon as the Lakers host the Toronto Raptors tonight before their three game road trip that will take them to Detroit, Washington and Boston. The Lakers won’t be back home until next Sunday when they host the New Orleans Pelicans. Maybe there will be a new Laker in uniform then.
