Byron Scott Says Nick Young Could Be Out ‘Another Week Or Two Or Three’

Nick Young

The Los Angeles Lakers have been playing arguably their best basketball of the season despite the numerous injuries that have plagued the roster. One recent injury came to one of the most popular players on the team, Nick Young.

Young will miss his seventh consecutive game due to a swollen knee and Byron Scott says it might still be a while before Young returns to the court according to NBC Los Angeles’ Shahan Ahmed:

While Young has surely taken a step back from his level of play last season, the Lakers could definitely use his scoring off the bench. The Lakers are low on guards thanks to all of the injuries and have only Jordan Clarkson, Jeremy Lin, and Wayne Ellington as backcourt players right now.

Young would allow for more balance on the roster, and would also be another option the team could use down the stretch of games. The Lakers have struggled to close out games and their shot selection in the clutch has been terrible as players have failed to get good shots for themselves or others.

The playoffs won’t happen for the Lakers, but building chemistry and gaining confidence for the young players could be a great foundation for the future. Young’s return would be welcomed for a Lakers team hoping to keep up their level of play as the season winds down.
