Over the past six months, the NBA and fans have missed TNT sideline reporter, Craig Sager. The 63-year-old was forced to miss the entire 2014 NBA playoffs after being diagnosed with leukemia. On Thanksgiving Day, it was reported that Sager is nearing a return to the sidelines.

In an article for NBA.com on Thanksgiving Day, Sager talked about Kobe Bryant and had a message for the five-time champion:

While there are some who find Kobe’s record for misses an embarrassment and fodder to criticize him, I believe Kobe when he says he hasn’t given it a second thought. And as Kobe prepares for his next game and his next shot with physical conditioning and conscious planning unsurpassed in the game today, I can say only this: Keep on shooting.

While Kobe has been criticized for his shot selection throughout his career, he has received heavy criticism this season especially at the end of games. Averaging about 24 shots a game, Kobe is on pace for his worst shooting percentage of his career at 37.9 percent.

With Kobe struggling with his shot in the second half of games, he is changing his training in hopes of having his legs and being the closer the Lakers need him to be. In addition, head coach Byron Scott is in the process of doing his part by “tinkering” with Kobe’s minutes and did a solid job of managing those minutes against the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday.

In 15 games this season, Kobe is averaging 26.4 points, 5.1 rebounds and 4.1 assists in 35.7 minutes.
