D-Fenders News: D-Fenders Defeat Tulsa In First Game Of Road Trip

On Tuesday, the Los Angeles D-Fenders defeated the Tulsa 66ers 117-109.

The D-Fenders maintained a steady lead throughout the first quarter by holding Tulsa to 39.1 percent from the floor. This advantage began to slip heading into the second. The 66ers gained the lead on four separate occasions in this quarter, although Los Angeles managed to go into halftime with a slim two-point lead.

In the third quarter, Tulsa start off with an early 13-3 run to gain a 10 point advantage over the D-Fenders. They managed to shrink the deficit to only three points heading into the fourth quarter. In the final quarter, the squad regained dominance and converted 15 of their 21 shot attempts. Despite shooting 20 percent from the three-point line over the entire game, the D-Fenders managed to gain their 23rd win of the season.

Josiah Turner was the D-Fenders leading scorer with a career-high 31 points. Top contributors included James Southerland with 16 points and 13 rebounds, Shawne Williams with 22 points and seven rebounds, and Manny Harris with 22 points.

The D-Fenders embark on game two of their five-game road trip against the Cavaliers D-League affiliate, the Canton Charge, on Friday, March 14th.
