NBA: Los Angeles Lakers at Washington Wizards
The Los Angeles Lakers suffered one of their worst losses of the season Friday night against the Washington Wizards, even though they once held an 18-point lead in the game.

The Lakers came out very strong in the first half and the team played well on both ends of the court. However, thanks to John Wall and Trevor Ariza, the Wizards completed the comeback and shocked the Staples Center crowd. The Lakers had no answer for the two players and they completely fell apart in the fourth quarter.

After the game, coach Mike D’Antoni spoke to reporters and he blasted the team for its poor effort.

You can’t be a fairly good team or even a good team without passing the basketball, without understanding what we’re doing defensively and honing in and doing it. You can’t do it. You can’t do it. It’s impossible.”

The Lakers have been very inconsistent this season and there has not been a time where the team looked like a championship contender. The team disappointed fans with its second half performance and it missed an opportunity to gain some ground on the Utah Jazz for the eight seed in the Western Conference. Los Angeles needs all the wins it can get in the final stretch of the season and it should beat teams that are bound for the lottery like the Wizards.

The Lakers will be back on the court Monday for a big divisional game against the Golden State Warriors.
