Dorell Wright Believes Bynum is Better than Dwight Howard

Dwight Howard is the best center in the NBA, right?

Well, one of the newest Philadelphia 76ers, Dorell Wright, believes that there is another center in front of Howard. The Los Angeles Lakers acquired Howard this off-season, but they had to trade long-time center Andrew Bynum. Bynum ended up going to the Sixers and formed a solid Eastern Conference team with Jrue Holiday and coach Doug Collins

Although the Sixers lost their leader Andre Iguodala, the front office made some nice additions including Dorell Wright. Wright will be getting a lot of open looks near the three-point arc this upcoming season as opponents double-team Andrew Bynum. It is expected that Wright will work well with his newest teammate and he told Philly.com that he believes Bynum is better than Howard.

“He’s going to need two defenders to stop him; I would say he’s the best big man in the NBA right now, hands down,” Wright, speaking at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine,  said. “He’s a guy that can give you baskets with his back to the basket; a guy who makes free throws at 7-feet. You’ve just got to respect him.”

There is no doubt that Bynum’s offensive game is more developed than Howard’s and he can be very effective from the free-throw line. Teams often intentionally foul Howard so he can go to the stripe; however, something like that on Bynum will surely backfire.

Still, Howard is far better on the defensive end than Bynum is. Howard won the Defensive Player of the Year award three times and opponents are looking out for the big man whenever they attack the paint. Howard’s athletic ability is unmatched by a center of his size and the Lakers truly have a revolutionary player on their roster.

Bynum and Howard were both a part of one of the biggest trades in recent memory and those two will be battling each other for the next several seasons.
