Former Laker Chris Duhon Intentionally Hit By Car In Parking Garage

NBA: Denver Nuggets at Los Angeles Lakers

Last year, the Los Angeles Lakers acquired Chris Duhon as part of the Dwight Howard blockbuster trade. While he appeared in a couple of games due to injuries to Steve Nash and Steve Blake, the Lakers decided not to re-sign the point guard from Duke.

With the season approaching, Duhon was not invited to any team’s camp and remains a free agent. However, Duhon’s name appeared on the news on Saturday after he was intentionally struck by a car.

According to police, a driver got into an argument with the former Laker in a parking garage in Orlando. When both eventually went their separate ways, the driver got back into the car and accelerated towards Duhon, via MyFoxOrlando:

“Hernandez told police as the Lexus passed by, the driver rolled down his window and some words were exchanged.  Then, police said driver stopped, got out of his car and argued face-to-face with Duhon.

Hernandez told officers that he separated the driver and Duhon and that he and Duhon kept on walking and the suspect got back into his car.  As Duhon and Hernandez got about twenty feet away from the Lexus, Hernandez told police the driver accelerated towards them. Hernandez said he was able to get out of the way, but Duhon was hit.”

Duhon landed on the hood of the car and his head hit the front windshield. He was taken to the hospital, but didn’t remember anything about the incident. Fortunately, Duhon was able to walk out of the hospital later that same day.

In his only season with the Lakers, Duhon averaged 2.9 points and 2.9 assists in 46 games.
