Happy 74th Birthday to Lakers Legend Jerry West

Lakers Nation would like to take a moment to wish a very happy birthday to the legendary Jerry West, who turned 74 years-old today. West, who you may recognize as the NBA logo, was one of the greatest players in league history, and had a major influence on nearly every championship team the Lakers ever put together.

West was drafted with the second overall pick in the 1960 NBA Draft by the Lakers out of the University of West Virgina. West played with the Lakers for 14 seasons before a brief stint as a coach and a very successful tenure as GM. West was involved in nine championship teams, either playing or in the front office, and is widely regarded as one of the best Lakers of all time.

The list of accolades West has received throughout his career are far too numerous to mention here, but his proudest accomplishment is most certainly the championship he brought to Los Angeles in 1972. You can get a look at the rest of West’s unparalleled resume here.

Happy birthday, Logo!
