Jeremy Lin Believes He Still Hasn’t Reached His ‘Full Potential’

Veteran point guard Jeremy Lin had arguably one of his best performances of the season for the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday night with a 19-point outing against the visiting Phoenix Suns.

Lin has been fairly streaky since being acquired by the Lakers in a trade with the Houston Rockets this past summer. Some nights, Lin is one of the best offensive players on the floor and in others, he simply doesn’t show up on the stat sheet.

After the loss to the Suns on Sunday, Lin talked about his performance and how he believes he has yet to reach his true potential in the NBA, via Lakers Nation reporter Serena Winters:

Ever since Lin bursted on the scene with the New York Knicks back in 2012, the Harvard product’s numbers have been on the decline. Lin averaged a career-high 14.6 points and 6.2 assists per game with the Knicks, but has been able to bring the same kind of production with the Rockets or Lakers.

Currently, Lin is averaging 10.2 points per game which is his lowest point total since his rookie season (2.6) with the Golden State Warriors. The 26-year-old is also now playing off the bench after being demoted by head coach Byron Scott. Lin started the first 20 games before losing his starting spot to Ronnie Price.

With Scott more than willing to make changes to the rotation, Lin will have his opportunity to get back into the starting lineup with some improved play. Lin does seem to play better off the bench along with Carlos Boozer, but could see himself become a starter once again further down the line.
