With his first season with the Los Angeles Lakers coming to an end, point guard Jeremy Lin has struggled with consistency in his career. However, since the All-Star break, Lin is averaging 14.8 points and 5.1 assists.

In a recent article via ESPN’s Pablo S. Torre, Lin discusses numerous topics including his goals and the last three seasons:

“I’ve always wanted to be a starting point guard, I’ve always wanted to win championships, I’ve always wanted to be an All-Star,” Lin says. “I’ve always wanted to be great. And for three straight years, I’ve put in a lot of work, but I haven’t seen the results on the court.” He sighs. “I mean, that’s a long time, right? The average NBA career is five years. It’s not like I’m an accountant and I can be an accountant ’til I’m 67 years old.”

On July 13, 2014, the Lakers acquired Lin and a first round draft pick from the Houston Rockets. To begin the season, Lin started the first 20 games before being replaced by Ronnie Price and Jordan Clarkson. While Lin acknowledged being benched as ‘the low point’ this season, he has responded since the All-Star break and has recently started alongside Clarkson.

In the final 11 games of the season, Lin hopes to be able to evolve his game and develop into a better player in the league. With Lin becoming an unrestricted free agent this upcoming off-season, head coach Byron Scott says the draft will determine how the Lakers approach free agency.
