Jordan Clarkson Worked With Steve Nash During All-Star Break

Despite a rough season in terms of wins and losses, the Los Angeles Lakers remain optimistic about their future. One reason for some confidence involves the play of second round pick, Jordan Clarkson.

Many around the organization expect Clarkson’s game to grow with more experience. Clarkson took the All-Star break as an opportunity and worked out with Steve Nash, according to Lakers Nation reporter Serena Winters:

The Lakers bought Clarkson from the Washington Wizards, and the rookie has shown flashes of why many considered him to be a steal from the draft. So far this season, Clarkson has averaged 7.8 points and 1.7 assists per game. He has started in ten games, and could possibly start in more as head coach Byron Scott mulls another lineup change.

Clarkson’s development has led the Lakers to be ‘reluctant’ to include him in any potential trades as the Thursday’s deadline quickly approaches. Clarkson has revealed he reached out to Nash in the past and can learn plenty from the veteran. Should Clarkson continue to grow and produce, there is no reason to believe he will be a part of the Lakers’ future plans.

How the Lakers handle their backcourt will be interesting development. The team has been reported to be interested in Phoenix Suns point guard Goran Dragic either through trade or free agency. Additionally, the Lakers could potentially have a top-five pick in the NBA Draft and could select Emmanuel Mudiay with their selection.
