It has been an extremely tough start to the 2014-15 NBA season for the Los Angeles Lakers. As if injuries to Steve Nash, Nick Young and Julius Randle weren’t bad enough, the team has lost five straight games right out of the gate and as a result, the future looks bleak in Los Angeles.

After suffering a second loss on the season to the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday, the Lakers locker room was not a pleasant place to be. Not a single player cracked a smile or expressed any desire to talk to the media. Every Laker in the room knew the same questions were coming, but they still went through the motions.

Veteran center Jordan Hill was asked about the mood in the locker room and said the following:

“Oh, of course it’s down. You know, it’s definitely down. Told Kobe … he’s not happy right now. Nobody is. But we got to figure it out. We got to figure it out fast.”

Fortunately, the Lakers will have four days without a game to help recuperate after playing five games in eight days.

Hill is coming off another solid performance scoring 15 points and grabbing 15 rebounds to go along with three blocked shots. The recently re-signed center is arguably the second-best player on the squad this season behind Kobe Bryant, but the impressive play of Hill and Bryant hasn’t been enough to propel the team to victory early in the season.

Hill and the Lakers will get back on the floor at the Staples Center on Sunday against the visiting Charlotte Hornets. The Lakers center will have his work cut out for him going up against Al Jefferson who crushed Los Angeles last season with a 40-point performance back in January.
