After two consecutive season-ending injuries, Kobe Bryant turns 36 years old next month and is preparing for the final two seasons of his career. At the Showtime 2014 Summer TCA event on Friday, the five time-champion talked about life after basketball according to ESPN:

“I’m afraid, too,” he said Friday at the summer TV critics’ meeting. “You really have to lean on muses and mentors going forward, just as I did as a kid. It’s about having that next wave of things, which is scary as hell, but it’s fun at the same time.”

Like so many greats before him, it will be a major adjustment once Kobe likely retires in two seasons. However, this past season has given the five-time champion a chance to think about life after basketball as he has started his own company and invested millions in BODYARMOR.

While there seems to be a plan in place once Bryant retires, all the focus is on returning to the basketball court at a high-level the final two seasons. Although the Lakers couldn’t land any superstars to help him carry the team this upcoming season, Kobe is determined to prove that he remains one of the best players in the game.

For the Lakers, they have moved on to Plan B by re-signing numerous players from last year’s roster and acquiring Jeremy Lin and draft picks from the Houston Rockets. Although there will be new faces, Los Angeles was able to maintain financial flexibility for the next two summers as they hope to land players like Kevin Love and Kevin Durant.
