Kobe Bryant Leads All Backcourt Players In West All-Star Voting

Kobe BryantAfter eight months of rehab from sugery to repair a torn Achilles tendon, Kobe Bryant was able to make his return to the floor for the Los Angeles Lakers. Unfortunately, Bryant only lasted six games before injuring his knee resulting in a six-week setback.

Despite Bryant’s latest injury and only six games played this season, the superstar guard is leading all backcourt players in the Western Conference All-Star voting according to the Lakers official Twitter account:

.@kobebryant continues to lead the Western Conference backcourt with 723,031 votes in the 2nd @NBAAllStar returns. 2nd in the West overall.

— Los Angeles Lakers (@Lakers) December 26, 2013

Along with leading the way in the West ahead of players like Chris Paul, Bryant is third in the NBA in total votes so far. It should come as no surprise that four-time NBA MVP LeBron James of the Miami Heat is currently leading the way with 854,105 votes, but Bryant not being far behind is a testament to how his fans continue to stick by the superstar even with another injury derailing his season.

Currently, the Lakers are struggling once again with their undisputed leader on the floor. The team is sitting at 13-16 after a loss to the Heat on Christmas Day and may continue to struggle with Pau Gasol still dealing with a respiratory problem that will most likely keep him out against the Utah Jazz on Friday.
