With the Los Angeles Lakers not even into double digits in terms of wins at this point in the season, the talk has already turned to whether the team should start to tank. Los Angeles is in danger of losing a pick in the 2015 NBA Draft to the Phoenix Suns as a result of the Steve Nash trade in 2012.

Recently, Magic Johnson chimed in on the current state of the Lakers franchise. Johnson’s comments were controversial to say the least with the Laker legend basically implying the team should tank for the rest of the season.
After the Lakers beat the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday night, Kobe Bryant was asked about Magic’s comments and said the following in response, via Lakers Nation reporter Serena Winters:
Kobe: "I don't see teams tanking, it doesn't happen. Players play & try to win every single game, that's just what we do."

A few of Kobe’s teammates were also asked about Magic’s comments and expressed similar sentiment about the subject. No one on this team or involved with the franchise wants to tank or is even thinking about the possibility.
Head coach Byron Scott also talked about the subject before the Lakers faced the Kings on Tuesday night. Scott laughed off Magic’s comments and said there’s no guarantee the team gets a top pick anyway.
Regardless of Magic’s opinion on the topic, the Lakers aren’t tanking and have no intention of doing so. It’s unclear at this point on whether the team will turn things around this season, but they will definitely not be losing on purpose.
