Kobe Bryant Praises Defensive Ability Of Young Teammates

One consistent theme coming out of the first two days of Los Angeles Lakers’ training camp has been defense. Byron Scott preached all off-season that he would be all about defense this season, and so far that seems to be the case.

The Lakers had a scrimmage after practice today and all of the focus was on how good Kobe Bryant looked. Kobe, however, had some good things to say about his teammates defensive ability, one of whom was Wesley Johnson according to Lakers reporter Mike Trudell:

Johnson wasn’t the only one to stand out today as Ed Davis also caught Kobe’s eye with his athleticism and defense:

The things being heard are definitely promising as turning around the defense is absolutely necessary for the Lakers to experience any success this year. And the whole team is getting in on it as Nick Young has apparently stepped up to the challenge on that end in practice as well.

The Lakers have some potential with the roster they have assembled and if the defense is able make strides, the Lakers have a chance to rise higher than many project.
