Kobe On Illness: ‘You Used To Be Able To Fight Through These Things’

In the Los Angeles Lakers’ 93-80 loss to the San Antonio Spurs, Kobe Bryant had easily his worst performance of the season. Kobe shot only 1-14 and finished with nine points as the Lakers as a whole struggled offensively.

After the game, Kobe said that he wasn’t feeling too well and his body just wouldn’t respond according to Lakers Nation reporter Serena Winters:

Byron Scott also confirmed that Kobe was not feeling well tonight via Winters:

With the Lakers struggling so mightily on offense, they badly needed someone to step up and get them out of the funk they were in. Normally Kobe would be that guy, but with him not being himself, Kobe was unable to step it up another level.

A 1-14 performance will go down as one of the worst of Kobe’s career, and he won’t have much time to rest. The Lakers are scheduled to practice on Saturday before taking the floor on Sunday against the Golden State Warriors.

Hopefully Kobe is feeling much better by then because the Lakers will need their offense clicking on all cylinders if they plan on keeping up with the explosive Warriors. The return of Nick Young will surely help lighten the burden on Kobe, but until that comes, Bryant needs to be at 100 percent for the Lakers to get enough points to win.
