With Dwight Howard deciding to leave the Lakers for the Rockets, many fans wondered how Kobe Bryant would react.

It was documented at the moment of Howard’s announcement that he and Kobe were no longer following each other on Twitter, sparking initial controversy between the two players and leaving basketball fans anxious and eager to see what Kobe would say.

Well on Monday, the Black Mamba set the record straight and gave an explanation as to why he is no longer following the former Laker center.

Here’s what he had say:

I wish d12 the best honestly. I just find it hard to follow players that wanna kick my teams ass #thatsjustme

— Kobe Bryant (@kobebryant) July 9, 2013

Essentially, the competitor in Kobe takes precedence over everything. Dwight is no longer on his team so by nature he doesn’t feel the need to associate with him. Naturally, this should be expected because Dwight and Kobe weren’t the best of teammates in the first place.

It’s going to be interesting to see how the Lakers move forward sans Howard. They’ve signed Chris Kaman and intend to amnesty Metta World Peace, already adding to the crazy off-season that isn’t even halfway done.
