Last Season Summary:
In his first season with the Los Angeles Lakers, Jodie Meeks was inconsistent. To start the season, he was not part of the rotation until the arrival of Mike D’Antoni. Under D’Antoni, Meeks showed flashes of his three-point marksmanship that helped the Lakers win some crucial road games. While he struggled with his consistency, his defensive effort was there every game and provided much needed energy off the bench.

Strengths/Weaknesses:
Jodie Meeks has a quick release that enables him to get his shots off, but he is a very streaky shooter. Although he is said to be limited defensively, Meeks puts in so much effort that it makes up for his lack of athleticism. Meeks was one of the few players who was able to create turnovers, but has difficulties finishing at the rim. He is limited with his ball handling and is primarily a spot-up shooter.

Expected Role:
Jodie Meeks’ role this upcoming season is dependent on Kobe Bryant’s return. Meeks has the opportunity to start early in the season because of his experience under D’Antoni, but may be a benchwarmer by the end of the season. With the additions of Jordan Farmar, Nick Young, and Wesley Johnson, his ability to be a consistent shooter off the bench will determine if he stays in the rotation as the season progresses.

This Year’s Expectations:
It can be a difficult transition playing in Los Angeles the first year, but hopefully Meeks will be more comfortable this season. He has shown the ability to shoot, so it’s a matter of developing into a consistent three-point threat for the Lakers. With the Lakers planning on playing at a faster pace, it will give him an opportunity to spot-up in transition.
