In a season full of injuries, the Lakers have lost pretty much every major player at some point this season, so it only makes sense that they keep on coming. According to Bill Oram, center Pau Gasol injured his foot during Friday’s game against the Clippers and will have an MRI today:

The Lakers have struggled recently, in part due to the lack of healthy bodies. The Lakers have been suiting up nine players for the past week since waiving forward Shawne Williams. Nick Young has continued to play despite an injured back, and the Lakers can ill afford to lose Gasol for any major amount of time.

Despite being less effective than he has been in the past, Gasol is still the Lakers most reliable player and is averaging just under 16 points and 10 rebounds per game this season. The Lakers are looking to get some of their injured players back as Xavier Henry will be re-evaluated tomorrow, and Steve Nash and Kobe Bryant have dates that they are looking to return on.

Gasol going down will put a damper on any returns set to happen. Making the playoffs is going to be a major struggle for the Lakers with the hole they have dug themselves, without Gasol, it will be nearly impossible. This could also hurt Gasol’s trade stock if the Lakers still want to move the big man. Hopefully the Lakers get good news after an MRI for once this season.
