Lakers Injury Report: Blake, Nash, Bryant At Least A Month Away

NBA: Sacramento Kings at Los Angeles LakersThe Lakers have been the most injury ravaged team in the NBA, especially at the point guard position. Steve Nash hasn’t been on the court since the middle of November due to nerve root irritation, while Steve Blake went out in December due to an elbow injury. Couple those with Jordan Farmar tearing his hamstring yet again, plus Kobe Bryant and Xavier Henry also being lost and the Lakers are down to Kendall Marshall manning the point.

It is still unknown exactly when most of these guys are returning, but we do have an update on a couple of them. According to ESPN LA’s Dave McMenamin, it will still be a while before we see Nash and Blake on the court:

Update on the Lakers’ injured corps: Blake will be reevaluated Feb. 1, Nash will make another trip to Vancouver during the Grammy’s trip

— Dave McMenamin (@mcten) January 3, 2014

The Lakers’ Grammy trip starts on January 15 and ends January 26 so it seems pretty reasonable to believe that Nash, at best, won’t be back until February, while Blake being reevaluated on the first is right in line with the six-week diagnosis given, when his injury was first revealed.

Kobe Bryant was also seen shooting some free throws today, but according to McMenamin, we shouldn’t read too much into it:

Kobe Bryant was on the court doing some standstill shooting today. He’s still about a month away from a potential return however

— Dave McMenamin (@mcten) January 3, 2014

It is looking like February is the month that we could see something resembling a full Lakers roster. Of course that’s assuming the Lakers don’t lose anybody else during that time span, and with their luck this season, that seems unlikely.
