Rookie power forward Julius Randle is about as confident as they come for a player that has yet to play a minute on the NBA level. Randle was selected by the Los Angeles Lakers with the seventh overall pick in the 2014 NBA draft and has high expectations from the storied franchise to be a star in the near future.

During the photo shoot for NBA rookies, Lance Fresh of Bleacher Report asked Randle what rating he should be in NBA 2K15. Randle didn’t hesitate to say the following:

Fresh: “So what do you think your rating is going to be as a rookie?”

Randle: “It got to be a 99. It got to be. There’s no other way.”

Unfortunately for Randle, his rating was nowhere near 99. Randle’s official rating is 76 overall heading into his rookie season with the Lakers.

Will that change?

Possibly.

If Randle gets a considerable amount of minutes or eventually becomes a starter in the frontcourt, the rookie could see this rating go up before season’s end.

As for the rest of the rookies, Jabari Parker was top rated player coming out of college in NBA2K15 at 78 followed by Andrew Wiggins (77), Marcus Smart and Randle (76). Other notable rookie ratings revealed were Doug McDermott (75), Aaron Gordon (74), Shabazz Napier (74), Elfrid Payton (74), Nik Stauskas (74), and Zach LaVine (72).

Now that Randle’s rating has been released, the questions remain about some other Lakers like Kobe Bryant.

Recently, it was announced that only four players in the NBA were given a rating of 90 or above on Twitter:

In 2K14, Kobe received a rating of 93 coming off an Achilles injury that could’ve ended his career. After suffering a serious knee injury that ended his last season, it’ll be interesting to see what Kobe will be rated this time around.
