The Los Angeles Lakers signed 6’4″ shooting guard Wayne Ellington to a partially guaranteed contract before the start of training camp. The former North Carolina Tar Heel, known for his ability to shoot from deep, entered the league in 2009 and has had stints with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Memphis Grizzlies, Cleveland Cavaliers, and most recently, the Dallas Mavericks.

With a multitude of Lakers injuries, Ellington has become a consistent contributor in the Lakers preseason, averaging over 27 minutes per game and 7.2 points per game. With Kobe Bryant sitting to rest for the Lakers final preseason games, Ellington replaced Bryant in the starting line-up, knocking down 11 points in his 33 minutes in their win over the Portland Trailblazers.

Lakers Nation catches up with Ellington who talks about his North Carolina days, his favorite music, and where Lakers fans can follow him on Twitter!

The Lakers will have to trim their roster to a maximum of 15 players at the start of the regular season. Do you think Ellington will make the cut?
