Lakers Nation Reacts: Who Will They Root For In NBA Finals?

kobe.timmyTimes are tough these days for Lakers fans as the team is currently in limbo with impending free agent center Dwight Howard and Kobe is on his way back from a torn Achilles.

The playoffs haven’t been all that easy to watch as the Lakers first round opponent, the San Antonio Spurs, have made their way back to the NBA Finals and now have the opportunity to win their fourth title in the 2000s.

In the east, the Miami Heat had it easy for the first two rounds against Milwaukee and Chicago, but ran into a tough matchup against the Indiana Pacers that saw the series go to seven games.

So, between the Heat and Spurs, we asked Lakers Nation who they’ll be rooting for starting tomorrow night:

In our poll, 84 percent say they’ll be rooting for the Spurs as its been discussed that a Spurs victory might mean that Tim Duncan surpasses Kobe Bryant and the Spurs pass the Lakers as the team of the 2000’s.

While I don’t think that this will happen, there’s a sound argument for both and it’s not something that Lakers fans will want to hear during one of the team’s most important off-seasons.

The Heat will face their toughest test yet as the Spurs haven’t played in over a week and with an old team, rest is the best medicine for them. While LeBron James has been at his best during these playoffs, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade were both invisible during most of the Pacers series.

Regardless, tomorrow night will be the start of a great NBA Finals and we’ll see how many Lakers fans can really stomach the energy to root for the Spurs.
