Elgin
Elgin Baylor is one of the greatest Lakers and greatest players period in the history of the NBA, and today he turns 79 years old.

Baylor is a Hall of Famer, averaging 27.4 points and 13.5 rebounds throughout his illustrious career despite being a 6’5″ small forward. Baylor is also considered the first true athlete and high flyer of the NBA, constantly making plays that no one else was capable of making at the time and paved the way for guys like Julius Erving, Michael Jordan, and Kobe Bryant.

Baylor is also known for one of the most truly amazing seasons in NBA history in 1962 when he was playing while on active duty for the US Army Reserve. He also had numerous other highlights that rank among the best in the game, including scoring 71 points and grabbing 25 rebounds in a game against the New York Knicks and his still-standing record of 61 points in an NBA Finals game.

Baylor is truly one of the greats that is too often forgotten about, and today, Lakers Nation wishes Baylor a happy 79th birthday.
