With just over a month left until the NBA trade deadline, things are starting to heat up around the association. The Atlanta Hawks got things started when they sent Kyle Korver to the Cleveland Cavaliers in return for Mike Dunleavy, Mo Williams, and a protected first-round draft pick. The trade had executives claiming the Hawks were ready to cash in on their players who were able to leave as free agents, including All-Star Paul Millsap.

However, according to reports Hawks GM Wes Wilcox has informed teams that Paul Millsap is not available via trade. Strangely enough, one of the teams rumored to have an interest in Millsap was the Los Angeles Lakers. It’s not clear what assets the Lakers would have to offer to the Hawks or how Millsap would fit into the team’s young core.
Millsap is a great player, but he will be 32 next month. Trading any of the young core for Millsap would be a huge mistake, and signing another power forward in free agency doesn’t seem to make much sense, especially since Randle has flourished this season.
