Lakers News And Rumors Recap: Gasol, Hill And Kaman Remain With Lakers

In the weeks leading up to Thursday’s trade deadline, the Los Angeles Lakers were linked to several trade rumors with Pau Gasol once again believed to be the likely candidate to be moved.  However, as the deadline passed, Gasol remained a Laker, so too did Jordan Hill and Chris Kaman, and it was instead Steve Blake who had been dealt.

Prior to Wednesday’s game against the Houston Rockets, the Lakers and Warriors agreed to a trade which sent Blake north in exchange for Kent Bazemore and MarShon Brooks.  Hill and Kaman were each shopped to a bevy of Eastern Conference teams, but talks eventually faded due to the Lakers’ reported high demands in exchange for cap relief.

As for the somewhat unexpected trade of Blake, when addressing the media on Thursday, general manager Mitch Kupchak stated the move was done with the idea of giving Jordan Farmar and Kendall Marshall more playing time.
