Los Angeles Lakers second year forward Brandon Ingram was dominant in the first game of Summer League. Ingram finished with 26 points and was able to get any shot he wanted against the Clippers.

Unfortunately a scary moment occurred at the end of regulation as Ingram stayed on the floor with a leg cramp after missing a shot that would’ve won the game for the Lakers.

There was some initial concern about the injury possibly being severe, but Ingram was able to get up and seemed fine after the game. Regardless, the Lakers are not taking any chances with him as they announced Ingram will not play for the remainder of Summer League:

Brandon Ingram (leg cramping) will not play the remainder of Summer League.

He will likely remain with the team and continue to practice.

— Los Angeles Lakers (@Lakers) July 8, 2017

It makes perfect sense that Ingram would sit out for the rest of Summer League as it was pretty obvious that he didn’t need it. Ingram was on another level from basically everyone else on the court and risking any injury to him would have been foolish.

The good news is that Ingram isn’t seriously injured and that it is only a cramp that he suffered. Without him, however, the rest of the Lakers Summer League team will need to step up.

In particular, Lonzo Ball had an awful shooting night and Ivica Zubac was basically a non-factor. Both will need to become go-to players if the Lakers still plan on coming home with a Summer League championship.
