The Los Angeles Lakers looked absolutely awful as they lost 16 of 17 games. With nobody having faith in the team, the Lakers suddenly have begun to turn things around and won their third straight game with a victory over the Milwaukee Bucks.

After the latest victory, head coach Byron Scott praised his team, in particular a couple of veteran backcourt players. Scott complimented the recent play of Jeremy Lin according to Ryan Ward of Lakers Nation:

Byron Scott on Jeremy Lin: “He’s really started to get into a little bit of a groove.”

The man who sparked the fourth quarter comeback, Wayne Ellington, was also singled out by Scott:

Byron Scott on Wayne Ellington: “He’s elevated his game.”

Combined with rookie Jordan Clarkson who led the Lakers in scoring in the win, Ellington and Lin have formed a surprisingly effective backcourt as of late. Lin had his best game as a Laker in the win over the Jazz and Ellington has remained consistent since being inserted into the starting lineup.

The Lakers backcourt has been decimated by injuries this entire season as Kobe Bryant, Ronnie Price, Steve Nash and Xavier Henry were all lost for the season. With Nick Young sidelined due to knee issues, Lin, Ellington and Clarkson are the only healthy guards remaining.

A playoff run is out of the question for this team, but the play of certain players is still a good sign for the future of this team. Scott has the Lakers playing hard despite having nothing left to play for and this backcourt is a sign of that.
